Mojacar is now only 50 minutes drive from Almeria airport and one and a half hours drive from Murcia Airport. The motorway infrastructure is firmly in place to support Mojacar and this means that Granada and Alicante are both only two hours drive from Mojacar.
Land and Amenities
There is a main road approximately 3 kilometres from the heart of the land with a rustic road providing access to the development site.
Due to the age of the buildings, mains services (water, electricity and mains drainage) are not connected, however there are a number of ways in which these services can be brought to the cortijos.
As you can see from the pictures, a number of nearby properties benefit from mains electricity. The land also benefits from a several wells built in strategic locations around the site.
Development strategies
- The Town Hall is willing to support development that complies with the General Master Plan. Permitted uses include leisure, tourism and recreational.In order to develop the land for one of these uses, a special planning agreement may be negotiated with the relevant authorities who may allow the new owner to forego the rebuilding of Cortijos in consideration of building a new and substantial single structure elsewhere. This may take the form of a rustic hotel or holiday chalets.
- It is also possible to rebuild and extend each of the cortijos, subject to local planning regulations. The Town Hall has indicated that there is potential for further intensification of development in the Cortijada (the area surrounding cortijos 1 -7 in the Site Plan).
- The land would also lend itself to construction of a substantial private residence. This would offer the ultimate environment in terms of privacy, security and natural beauty.
